Pets in Turkey is a Swiss non-profit association within the meaning of Articles 60 et seq. of the Swiss Civil Code, pursuing an exclusively charitable animal-welfare purpose. The association is registered with the competent tax authorities, benefits from public-interest tax-exempt status in the canton of Geneva, and submits annual tax declarations and accounts.
As the association does not conduct any commercial business activity and is not subject to a mandatory statutory audit, registration in the Swiss Commercial Register is not required under Article 61 paragraph 2 of the Swiss Civil Code.
Purpose and use of funds
The activities of Pets in Turkey consist of rescuing abandoned animals, providing veterinary care, and facilitating adoptions in Europe. They are carried out on a strictly non-commercial, cost-covering basis and are funded by donations and grants. Donations are used exclusively for these purposes, and no profit is distributed to members.
Tax exemption
Pets in Turkey has been recognised as a tax-exempt non-profit organisation by the canton of Geneva . Donations may be tax-deductible in Switzerland within the limits of applicable federal and cantonal law.
Donors resident outside Switzerland should check the rules of their own country. A donation receipt can be issued on request at info@petsinturkey.org.
